A retaining wall in Clayton Bay, SA
This project began back in 2017 when the first retaining wall was built in preparation for the house to be constructed. Large scale earthworks and site preparations were required as the wall ran from the left hand side boundary, across the width of the block, to the right hand side border of the block. At its highest point, the wall reaches 3m high. It also allows for a rainwater tank stand and concrete stairs.
The construction of this wall had its challenges as we hit rock in many of the holes when we were drilling. We used our equipment and experience, dedicated rock drilling gear, including core barrelling, to achieve engineering specifications. Being able to provide rock drilling services kept the cost down for the customer, and kept the project on time schedule. The beams were concreted in and left to set before the sleepers were put in place.
After this first wall was constructed a second wall was built in 2019. This wall is 1.4m high and has allowed for the client to start planting a terraced garden. A shed was erected on the property in 2020 which we then concreted. We also concreted a flat pad which also allowed for some strategically placed garden beds for aesthetics.
The third wall in the back yard was constructed in 2021, and this wall completes the terracing out the back. More work is planned for the front of the property along with perimeter fencing.
